//Ongoing client projects//:


  1. -collaboration with Hoog&Diep (design agency Rotterdam) for a project about library experiences (March-July 2010)

  2. -citizen participation project for Stichting van het Park. The Plantage in Schiedam is a park surrounded by houses. In this park a new water element will be built. The people who live there receive cultural probes to document their lives around the park and the role water plays in their lives. The results will be exposed during the Plantage Festival on September 11th 2010.(April-September 2010)

  3. -the design of a logo for driving on natural gas in co-creation with natural gas drivers (client: Stadsgewest Haaglanden)(September 2009-...)

  4. -continuous collaboration with WAACS (design agency Rotterdam) for inspirational user research for various clients.(September 2009-....)

  5. -I am collaborating more and more with STBY, a service design agency in Amsterdam and in London (February 2010-....)



//Upcoming projects//:


At the moment I am formulating new project proposals that focus on healthcare (in collaboration with several design researchers, Renee Schuffelers, STBY). This has two reasons; One is that I want to make myself useful for people who need care (e.g., patients, elderly). The other reason is that I think that there is a LOT OF WORK to do in this field. This field needs fresh air: Creative empathic people, such as design researchers, service designers, experience designers with skills and knowledge of methods, techniques and tools can be useful in innovating healthcare products,services and processes from the user’s perspective. This is the only way to make people who need care more happy!

- June 5-12 2010 Contextual research & prototyping seminar for the cultural heritage museum of Doha, in Qatar (collaboration of ID-Lab, Milano, StudioLab, TU Delft and VCUQ in Qatar)

  1. -May 11th: guest lecture at Hanze Hogeschool Human Technology. contextmapping.

  2. -15-22 April: contextmapping and co-creation workshop in Linkoping, Sweden

  3. -March/April: Masterclass user centred design (UCD). The new Master ‘engineering’ at the Hogeschool Utrecht developed a Masterclass for professionals. I gave lectures about the basics of UCD and the basics of contextmapping.

  4. -19 February: Promoting empathy in design research. Talk at Engine: Service Design Agency based in London

  5. -22/23 February: Designing for the future! A two-day workshop for students of the art academy in Riga, Latvia. The students will visit people at their homes and study kitchen routines to gather data, create personas, project them into future scenarios and create product/service directions for the future kitchens. This is part of a competition for  Electrolux. I will give this workshop together with Jonas Piet, one of my favorite colleagues. check pics of first day: Day 1 Design Fiction Workshop Riga
