-BEWONERS BLOK BOEK (October 2011-April 2012)
-
For SEV, an institute that aims to develop innovative responses to social housing issues, i am involved in researching and identifying opportunities for sustainable innovations in existing housing blocks. Together with Carolien Hoogland (researcher on behavioral change) and Joost van der Waal (architect/urban planner) we have been researching the dynamics in an existing housing block in Rotterdam; the people who are living there and the cooperative association of home owners and their activities towards sustainable innovations. We have been exploring what kind of wishes these people have for their living environment. One of the methods is a cultural probe, a book in which people introduce themselves and their house by means of pictures and stories. The book travels from person to person, so they get to know each other better and it elicits discussion about living together in one block.
-SERVICE INNOVATION FOR OHRA (January-June 2012)
In collaboration with Zilver Innovation we are proposing service innovations for damage insurances based on customer journeys which are built on internal and external findings. The internal findings come from a series of interviews and workshops within the organisation to identify realistic paths for innovation strategies. The external part consists of interviews, home visits, online diaries to understand the motivations, needs and wishes of everyday people regarding insurances.
//Upcoming lectures/workshops//:
-Febr-April 2012 Service design process course TU Delft
For Master students and staff I am running an elective course about service design process (ID5665) at the moment based on the fact that our Masters provide many skills and tools which can be applied for service design as well, but we are also missing some aspects yet, see SDmemo for more info. The lectures consist of many guest lecturers from design practice and with the students we critically reflect on new developments in design practice in order to be able to define how the new generation of IDE designers could profile them selves in the current design practice.

-April 7-12th social innovation gathering in Sicily
A new hub will be opened and to celebrate this and exchange ideas with peers in the field we will all present some of our work and create new ideas together for Sicilian’s society.

-SERVDES2012. Workshop ‘involving users: worth your money?’ Espoo, Finland. (Febr 10th 2012)
-Micro- and macro scale research for design management. Design Management Netwerk Nederland (DMN) invited me and Frits Spangenberg from Motivaction to present and discuss our research approach for design purposes. My type of research is micro: personal, subjective, contextual, n=<12. Motivaction’s research is more macro oriented: all people in NL are categorised in 6 target groups, which are validated by large numbers.
